ABA glossary
Position bias
Also called side bias
Definition
Choosing items based on where they are placed, such as always picking the left one, rather than on what they are. It can make preference assessment results misleading.
Example from a session
A child picks whichever item is on her right in 9 of 10 trials, so the assessor rotates item positions.
