Assent
Also called client assent
Definition
A client's agreement to take part in an activity, shown in words or behavior, when the client cannot legally give consent. Signs of withdrawn assent, such as pulling away or crying, call for changing the activity.
Example from a session
A nonvocal child approaches the table and sits down, but later pushes the materials away and turns from the therapist.
