Least restrictive effective intervention
Definition
Choosing, among procedures likely to work, the one that places the fewest limits on the client's freedom, comfort, and access to reinforcers. More restrictive options are considered only when less restrictive ones have been tried or are judged unlikely to be effective.
Example from a session
Before considering response cost, a BCBA recommends FCT plus a richer schedule of attention, which the assessment suggests will be enough.
