ABA glossary
Pairwise design
Also called pairwise functional analysis
Definition
A functional analysis format in which each test condition is compared with the control condition on its own, alternating just those two, rather than running all conditions together. It can clarify results when a full multielement analysis is undifferentiated.
Example from a session
After unclear results, a BCBA alternates only the escape condition with play, then only the attention condition with play.
