ABA glossary
Restrictive procedure
Definition
A procedure that limits a person's freedom of movement, access to reinforcers, or choices, or that involves aversive stimulation, such as restraint, exclusionary time-out, or response cost. It calls for strong justification, consent, close oversight, and a plan to fade it.
Example from a session
A plan that adds exclusionary time-out for aggression documents why less restrictive options were not enough and how its use will be reviewed.
